Množina: Bauls

Member of a Bengali mystical sect that emphasizes freedom from compulsion, from doctrine, and from social caste; they avoid all outward forms of religious worship. Not ascetic, they aim for harmony between physical and spiritual needs.
An oral tradition is passed down by gurus (teachers). The Bauls make extensive use of music and poetry.
